Did you know?

The magnitude of our work …

Habitat for Humanity has built over 300,000 homes with people in need of decent shelter since it’s founding in 1976 – 55,000 homes in the U.S. and 245,000 in other countries.

Habitat for Humanity is currently working in 95 countries.

Habitat for Humanity is currently the #1 private home builder in the U.S. and #6 of all home builders in the U.S.

Of the 17 affiliates in MA, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod was the top builder last calendar year (8 houses).

The magnitude of world wide need

Over 1 billion people world wide live in slums, without adequate water, sanitation, shelter (impacting access to health care, education, jobs).

80% of the world’s population lacks “secure tenure” to where they live. Whether renting, owning or through some traditional or other arrangement, these people  are subject to forcible removal at any time.

BUILD LOUDER

Habitat for Humanity International has set up a new web link www.AdvocateWithHabitat.org to provide background information and news about advocacy initiatives in the United States and around the world. You can sign up to receive alerts, or just save this website as one of your favorites to check in periodically for new info. Habitat’s new BUILD LOUDER program challenges us all to take a more active role in making decent affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action for all people, AND to ramp up our efforts, through advocacy and partnerships, to work towards the elimination of homelessness and substandard shelter worldwide.
