Dear Friends –
For the first time in the history of our local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, our Board of Directors has decided that a ballot question has such a potentially damaging affect on our ability to provide the opportunity of affordable housing to our neighbors in need, that our organization has taken a stand on the question.
We are asking you to Vote NO on Ballot Question #2 in November on the initiative to appeal the Affordable Housing Law (known as 40B).
More than 75% of the homes we have built on Cape Cod since 2001 were permitted with variances allowable only through this affordable housing law. At least half of our planned home building schedule for next year will be eliminated if the repeal is successful.
Among the Habitat neighborhoods made possible by “40B” are – Danvers Way, Hyannis; Gomes Way, Harwich; James Burr Rd., Brewster; Sam Turner Rd., Falmouth.
Thank you for your careful consideration of this issue. Please Vote NO in November to Repeal the Affordable Housing Law.
