In Loving Memory of Bob Spence

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend, longtime volunteer, and treasured member of the Habitat Cape Cod family, Bob Spence.

Bob was more than just a skilled carpenter—he was a quiet force of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication. For years, he gave his time, energy, and heart to our mission, showing up early to build sites, ready to lend a hand, share a story, or teach a fellow volunteer. Known for his comfort working in the highest places on the work site, Bob brought both expertise and a gentle spirit to every project he worked on.

Soft-spoken but full of wisdom, Bob had a gift for making others feel welcome. He patiently mentored new volunteers, modeling not only the technical skills of building a home, but also the deeper values of teamwork, respect, and compassion. Whether he was swinging a hammer or quietly offering encouragement, Bob made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Bob was recognized with the prestigious Everett Stoyle Spirit of Service Volunteer Award in 2015— a fitting tribute to a man who truly embodied the spirit of Habitat. But beyond any accolades, it was his humble nature, warm smile, and tireless commitment that we will remember most.

We are forever grateful for the time we shared with Bob, and we will miss him dearly.

Our hearts go out to Bob’s wife, Martha, his family, friends, and fellow volunteers whose lives he touched.
