Brewster, MA – Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club recently donated $50,000 to support Habitat Cape Cod’s current two-home build in Brewster on Phoebe Way (off Red Top Road).
The two three-bedroom homes are under construction and are anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2024. Alongside volunteers, the two local families are helping build the homes they will soon purchase with an affordable mortgage. One home is Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod’s first Veterans Build for a family of four, and the second home is for a Cape Cod Hospital nurse and her four children.
“We are overjoyed to receive this generous support from Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club. This is a great example of how the community can work together to help Cape Cod families build and purchase an affordable home of their own. We are excited to welcome the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club staff to the Brewster build site this spring, where they will help build the homes that they also helped fund.” Wendy Cullinan, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod.
“When we heard of the generosity of Brewster resident Beth Finch donating her land for these two Habitat builds in Brewster, Gary Jennison and I wanted to support that,” said Michael Corcoran of Corcoran Jennison Companies, the entity that owns Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club. “It’s a great example of the Brewster community coming together for two deserving families. We are happy to be a part of that.”
Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club is located on 429-acres in Brewster and includes the historic Nickerson Mansion and Carriage House over looking Cape Cod Bay, the Cape’s only Nicklaus-designed golf course, 342 guest rooms, (including hotel and private villa accommodations), heated indoor and outdoor pools, spa, direct access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, tennis, pickleball, kids activities, and five dining facilities on property. A proud member of Historic Hotels of America, Ocean Edge was voted “Best of Boston” by Boston Magazine in 2023.
Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has completed over 180 homes on Cape Cod and is currently building in Brewster and will begin new builds this fall in Dennis and Wellfleet. More builds are planned for Yarmouth, Marstons Mills, Falmouth, and beyond. Local homebuyers are chosen after a long application process and a drawing of qualified applicants. Homes are deed-restricted to be affordable in perpetuity. Habitat Cape Cod homes are energy-efficient and generate more energy than the homes use. These homes also have a sustainable landscape to align with Cape Cod’s delicate ecosystem. Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has been recognized nationally for creating and producing energy-efficient affordable homes.
