On Saturday, December 4th, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod welcomed over 200 local volunteers, neighbors and supporters, including the Coast Guard and the Marines to their latest Wall Raising Celebration, for 6 new affordable homes on Willett Way in Falmouth.
Willett Way is a new road, named for local philanthropist Herbert Willett.
Volunteers and future homeowners will work together over the next year to build the 6 homes, when the homes are completed, they will be purchased by the families that helped to build them.
Habitat homes range from one to three bedrooms and the price to the homeowner is $138,000 to $168,000. Habitat Cape Cod homes are typically net zero with solar panels, don’t use fossil fuels or combustion, and they all come with air-to-air heat pumps, making them have less of an effect on the environment while lowering or negating the homeowner’s energy cost.
In the past 30 years, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has developed over 155 affordable homes on Cape Cod. Local families help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. And the Homes are deed restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.
